Minnesota Massage Therapist Licensing and Certification Requirements

If you've graduated from a massage school in Minnesota and are interested in practicing massage therapy as your career, it is important to stay up to date on the rules and regulations that apply to massage therapists in the individual municipalities of Minnesota to verify what the requirements are.

Minnesota Massage Therapy Board - New License Requirements

Minnesota has no statewide licensing regulations concerning the practice of massage therapy. This state is considered to be a 'freedom of access' state in which there are no qualifications necessary to practice alternative healthcare as long as the practitioner discloses to the patient their credentials and a client bill of rights. Massage is grouped in with other alternative practices since Minnesota is without a separate massage therapy licensing law.

As Minnesota licensing is regulated by city or county, Massage Practitioners should look into any possible local authority regulations in their area.
